An original iPhone battery can be broadly understood as two parts:

  1. Original battery flex circuit and management chip
    They handle battery identification and charge and discharge management, and record information such as charge level, cycle count and battery health. They can be understood as the battery’s “identity”.
  2. Battery cell
    The cell is the core component that stores electrical energy and directly affects battery capacity and runtime.

Complete battery replacement

A complete replacement changes both the battery flex circuit and the cell. If the replacement battery or handling method cannot be recognised correctly by the system, some models and iOS versions may show “Unknown Part”, “Unable to Verify” or a similar notice, and battery health may not display normally.

Battery cell transplant

A battery cell transplant retains the original battery flex circuit and replaces only the cell, provided that inspection confirms the original battery flex circuit is suitable for continued use.

Keeping the original flex circuit usually helps preserve the existing battery identification information. When the flex condition, repair option and system support are compatible, it can reduce parts notices or missing battery-health information. The final display still needs to be confirmed using the specific model, iOS version and actual post-repair system screen.
